As a community bank, Peoples Bank has been dedicated to transforming its communities and enhancing the lives of its individuals and families for over 120 years. Our charitable giving efforts are separated into two areas, financial contributions and volunteerism, and both are of equal importance and emphasis within our organization.

Not only does Peoples Bank provide donations and sponsorships to local organizations, but its employees donate to local food banks and food pantries through our Jeans for Hunger program; and the Peoples Bank Foundation awards grants to local non-profits and scholarships to area students.

Here are a few examples from each area so far this year.

Peoples Bank

Peoples Bank makes corporate donations as well as local sponsorships. We recently committed to a donation of $2.5 million ($250,000 per year over 10 years) to Memorial Health System, headquartered in Marietta, Ohio. The health system will soon build Southeast Ohio’s only women and children’s hospital in Belpre, Ohio. Peoples Bank is excited to support the Mid-Ohio Valley community.

In June, Martin, Kentucky Branch Manager gifted a Blackstone grill and outdoor chairs to the Marin City Police Station.

In March, our four Greenbrier County, West Virginia offices rallied together to collect school supplies. At the end of the month, the collection was divided and donated to local schools in the county.

Jeans for Hunger Program

In the first half of 2023, Peoples Bank associates donated $84,000 to local food banks and pantries across the Peoples Bank footprint, including $21,000 to West Virginia, $24,000 to Ohio and $32,000 to Kentucky. Since the “Jeans for Hunger” program began in April 2020, Peoples Bank associates have donated $421,000 to local food banks and pantries.

Peoples Bank Foundation

This year, we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Peoples Bank Foundation and are fortunate to have so many great local communities in which we live, work, and play. We are proud to report the Foundation has awarded almost $7 million in grants, scholarships and donations since 2003.

A few of Peoples Bank Foundation’s recent donations include:

OHIO – The Peoples Bank Foundation committed to a donation of $25,000 ($5,000 per year over 5 years) to Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. The funds will support scholarships for students enrolled in programs within the university’s C.H. Lute School of Business.

WEST VIRGINIA – The Peoples Bank Foundation donated to the Huntington Children’s Museum, a children’s museum in Huntington, West Virginia that is currently in development. Their exhibits will be designed to cultivate knowledge, all will be chosen in the hopes of promoting the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) thought process.

KENTUCKY – The Peoples Bank Foundation donated to United Helping Hands in Pikeville, Kentucky. United Helping Hands is a non-profit outreach of the Pike County and Pikeville, KY area ministerial association. All sales from the thrift store go toward helping people in the community.

VIRGINIA – The Peoples Bank Foundation donated to Resolve Solutions Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia. Resolve Solutions assists young adults through college preparation, student mentoring, bridge programs, and internships/careers.
