Melissa Hama-Wardle brings a decade of banking experience and a passion for building meaningful client relationships to her role as Portfolio Manager in Peoples’ Agency Banking division. Based out of Akron, Ohio, Melissa is a trusted resource and partner for independent insurance agents across the country as they seek lending for acquisitions, perpetuation and succession.

 “I love being a trusted contact for clients and providing solutions that help their business grow,” Melissa said. “Building strong relationships and understanding how an agency operates is key to delivering the best service possible.”

A graduate of Cleveland State University, Melissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Finance and a master’s in Business Administration. She began her career in traditional banking and later transitioned into commercial lending, where she enjoyed working closely with business clients. For the past four years, Melissa has focused on supporting insurance agency clients, helping them navigate financial solutions that support day-to-day operations and long-term growth.

Melissa has been honored throughout her career, including being selected as an inaugural Co-Lead of the Women’s Network Employee Resource Group at Westfield Bank, and received the 2023 “Westy Award” for her contributions to special projects focused on process efficiencies.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband, Josh, and their two cats, Venus and Poppy. A lifelong sports fan, she enjoys basketball and football, proudly fulfilling a childhood dream as a partial season ticket holder for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
