Welcome Home – Up to $20,000 in Down Payment Assistance

The Welcome Home Program1 is supported by the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) Cincinnati and offers grants up to $20,000 to assist eligible homebuyers with down payment and closing costs. These grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis for low- to moderate-income households purchasing a home.

Who is Eligible for the 2026 Welcome Home Program?

Income Eligibility

Total household income must be at or below 80% of the Mortgage Revenue Bond (MRB) limit for the county and state where the home is located.

Minimum Borrower Contribution

At least $500 of your own funds must be applied toward the down payment and/or closing costs.

Executed Purchase Agreement Required

A fully signed purchase contract for an eligible property is needed before funds can be reserved.

Homebuyer Education (If Applicable)

First-time homebuyers must complete an approved homebuyer education or counseling course prior to closing.

What Properties are Eligible?

Primary Residence Requirement

The home you are purchasing must be for your primary residence. If you plan on moving from the home within 5 years, you may be required to pay back the grant.

Eligible Property Types

Single-family homes, townhomes, condos, duplexes, multi-unit homes (up to four units), or qualified manufactured homes affixed to a permanent foundation.

Retention and Notice Requirement

The property is subject to a 5-year retention period requiring FHLB Cincinnati be notified of refinancing, sale, foreclosure, or ownership changes.

How Do I Apply for the Welcome Home Program?

Welcome Home grant funds can be paired with Federal Housing Administration (FHA)2, Veterans Administration (VA)3, United States Department of Development Rural Housing (USDA) or Conventional Loans.
