Meet Afton Griffin, Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager of the Peoples Bank branch in Convington, Virginia. Afton studied Business Management at Mountain Gateway Community College, a foundation for the career she built on helping individuals and families reach their financial goals.  She began her banking career in 2008, moving her way up from a teller to several leadership roles.  

Afton joined the Peoples Bank team in 2014 and now proudly serves clients throughout Alleghany County and the City of Covington in Virginia.

Outside of Peoples Bank, Afton is actively involved in the community and currently serves as Treasurer of Olde Town Covington, Inc., after previously serving as their Interim President. Her dedication has earned her nominations for several community recognitions, including the Ruth Middleton Volunteer of the Year Award, Distinguished Leader of the Year and Tourist Champion of the Year by the Alleghany Highland Chamber of Commerce and Tourism. Afton has also been named a President’s Club winner twice at Peoples Bank, a company recognition for top-performing employees who exceed goals, show exceptional commitment and contribute to special initiatives. 

When not working, Afton’s favorite roles are being a wife and mom. She enjoys baking sweets and sourdough bread and spending time with family on their small mini farm with pigs, chickens, a turkey and two Labrador retrievers.
