How to Fix Your Log In Settings

Below you will find steps that will guide you step by step on how to clear your cookies, and temporary Internet files, as well as clear your browser history.

Netscape Navigator 3.x:

  1. Select "Options | Network Preferences..." from the main menu.
  2. Change to the "Cache" tab.
  3. Click on "Clear Memory Cache Now".
  4. Click on "Clear Disk Cache Now".
  5. Click OK to close the window.

Netscape Communicator 4.x:

  1. Select "Edit | Preferences..." from the main menu.
  2. Change to the "Advanced | Cache" section.
  3. Click on "Clear Memory Cache" and "Clear Disk Cache" buttons to clear memory and disk cache
Tip: Navigator 3.x and Communicator 4.x users: If you're often having to reload frequently updated pages, you may want to take this chance to set "Verify Documents" option to "Every Time." This will make the browser retrieve the latest copy of a web page even if it's in the cache.

Netscape Communicator 6.0 and higher:

  1. After Netscape loads, click on the Edit menu in top tool bar area.
  2. Click on Preferences.
  3. For Netscape 6 double click on Navigator in the Category section to expand it.(For Netscape 7, this Category section will already be expanded by default.)
  4. Click on History in the Category section to display its properties settings.
  5. Click on the Clear History button to clear your recently visited page links.
  6. Within that section, it also states: Remember visited pages for the last X days. Adjust this setting to your personal preference. 5 - 7 days is usually sufficient for History links.
  7. Go back to Category section on the left and double click on Advanced to expand that section.
  8. Click on Cache.
  9. Over to the right, you will see two buttons: Clear Memory Cache and Clear Disk Cache.
  10. Click on both buttons to delete all your Temporary Internet files stored by Netscape.
  11. Then click on the OK button to save your changes and exit the Preferences properties window.

Safari

  1. Open SAFARI.
  2. Select "Advanced" from "Web Browser" preferences.
  3. In "Cache", find the "Empty Now" button and click it.

Opera

  1. Click "File","Preferences","History" and the "Empty now" button.
  2. In addition users can check "Empty on exit" if they wish for this task to occur each time they exit Opera.
